Run your blog on the go with Blackberry
Bloggers have to spend a lot of time at a computer, it’s just the nature of the job. When writing a good article for your readers there’s probably no better place than at a desk with a good cup of coffee.
So what about the other aspects of running a blog?Networking, e-mails, social networks, comment moderation and many other things also keep us tied to our desks, but wouldn’t it be nice to do these things on the go? If you’ve got a Blackberry than I’m here to tell you that it’s OK to leave your desk and bring your blog with you. Here’s how:
WordPress
Wordpress has an official application for Blackberry smart phones that allows you to access almost all of the really important features of your blog dashboard. One of the best uses of this application in my opinion is for comment moderation. With the app you can approve comments and respond to them to keep in touch with your loyal readers.
Social Networking
With the explosion of social networking popularity this is something you just can’t avoid. Blackberry gives you native applications for both Facebook and Twitter which are extremely valuable to connect with others in your niche or find new readers. The Facebook app has been around for quite some time but the Twitter app is new and gives an impressive array of features to keep you tweeting all day. If your Blackberry is missing either of these applications you can download them for free from the Blackberry App World.
Forums
Most bloggers know that forums are a great place to meet new people that have similar interests as themselves and also to help out a community that will likely return the favor. Most forums are not always very friendly to use on mobile devices and can leave you frustrated but I have recently discovered a solution. An application called BerryBlab will let you easily view and participate in vBulletin forums right on your Blackberry with an easy to use interface that actually loads well and looks great.
The last but arguably most important thing that your Blackberry can do for you and your blog is e-mail. If you own a Blackberry chances are you are already using it for e-mail but don’t forget to send your blogs email to the device as well. Blackberries can handle multiple e-mail accounts so if your blog has a contact@myblogname.com go ahead and send it right to your phone so that you always can keep in touch with your readers. Blackberry is a mobile device born for messaging and connecting so go and get to it.

Hi Matt:
Mobile is emerging as a very viable medium where’s the best place to start?
Thanks
Do you mean for development? or perhaps for marketing?
There’s no simple way to develop for all mobile platforms because they are all still so different. One of the easiest ways to develop is using widgets that just grab info from the web because you can use data that’s already out there or learn from basic web skills. Android is actually coming out with a software that is supposed to make it easy for anyone to make an app, that should be interesting.
Matt:
I would like to have you write on mobile platforms for marketing on our CMT Blog?
Let me know, thanks
